Bursaries

We offer two bursaries each year to support individual work on any aspect of Scottish History. We also offer one bursary to support conferences or workshops.

Applications will open in January 2025 with a deadline of 31 March 2025.

Postgraduate, Early Career and independent researcher Bursary

An annual fund of £1000 designed to support research by postgraduate and early career researchers who have do not yet hold a permanent, full-time academic post. Application deadline: 31 March 2025. Mid-Career and Retired Scholars

An annual award of up to £3000 for a mid-career or retired scholar pursuing original research. This funding is intended to support particularly those who are or have been prevented by routine duties from completing a planned programme research. Application deadline: 31 March 2025. Conference and Workshop Funding Scheme

An annual fund of up to £1000 is available to support conferences or workshops on any subject relating to Scottish History. Application deadline: 31 March 2025.Please contact Stephen.Mullen@glasgow.ac.uk for application forms with ‘Conference and Workshop Funding Scheme’ as your subject line.
